A very simple cozy mystery, MURDER IN THE 1920’s, by Penny Brooke, is a quick, clean and easy read.MC, Charlotte, is socially awkward and has anxiety issues. Shortly after inheriting her grandmother’s estate, she falls into a covered well and discovers a skull/body. Turns out the discovery is about a century old, (hence the 1920’s murder designation), and the first of many forensic faux pax’s. Had high hopes, but it’s just not for me.There was nothing particularly wrong with this story, however I found myself disengaged from the protagonist. Charlotte just had a wishy washy personality, and apart from enjoying her interactions with her two gorgeous furballs, I had no incentive to like her. The other characters were not my cup of tea, and although I was intrigued with the murder mystery, I found myself speeding through just to finish this. Not carrying on with the series.2.5 stars
