Description

Combing through a book stall at a farmers market, Claudia Madison makes an extraordinary discovery: a first edition of a classic with an inscription in the back. She contacts a former colleague who puts her in touch with a reputable antiquarian who specializes in unique books: Arthur Hatton. Armed with extensive internet research, a whimsical aunt, and her trusty cat, Claudia makes the journey to Arthur’s home on the outskirts of Greenwood, Vermont. But when Arthur is found murdered in his study and Claudia’s book is stolen, she and her plucky crew are forced to set up camp in Greenwood once again while the police investigate the murder. Worse, she is asked to consult on the case and reluctantly accepts. It’s not an easy assignment as she regularly clashes with Detective Roman Sterling, but the pair must strive to put their differences aside as they wade through the mystery surrounding Arthur’s death. The more Claudia discovers about Arthur Hatton, the more she wonders if her discovery was a stroke of luck or a motive for murder.

The set up is country house murder mystery with a limited, but credible set of suspects. Our heroine encounters the officio
