A metal band heads to the crossroads and pretends to sell their soul. What could possibly go wrong? When up and coming metal band Shattered Soul used a photoshoot to pay tribute to the legend of Robert Johnson by pretending to sell their soul at the crossroads, they thought it was little more than a fun joke. But something…weird happened during the shoot, something dark, and their guitarist hasn’t been the same since. At the same time, the band’s career had taken off. Packed-out gigs, rave reviews and a growing number of dedicated fans who were quite literally willing to bleed for the cause. In fact, the only time their guitarist seems happy is when his fans are bleeding. Whether it was talent, luck, or the intervention of something supernatural, the band soared. With their hit single Blood Incantation, Shattered Soul captured the hearts of metalheads everywhereHowever, after a tragic accident at one of their shows threatens to detail Shattered Soul’s promising career, they they were instead able to regroup and plot one heck of a hometown comeback show: supporting the legendary Slayer at Kingsworth Castle. But that gig turned into a horror show.Four members of Shattered Soul took to the stage in Warwickshire that evening. Only one walked off it. No-one has told the real story of that night, until now. Not only to set the record straight but also because whatever dark forces were in control on that night in 2006, whatever was summoned during what they thought was a sham ritual at the crossroads, might well have returned to finish the job.Shattered Soul is a blood-soaked novella about demons, possession, riffs and blaring metal that demands to be turned up to 11.
This was so much fun to write, immersing myself back in mid-00s metalcore for this tale that is full of riffs, blood, loud guitars and possession. The longest thing I’ve published so far and I’m very proud of it…hope you all enjoy it!
Not my type of book. Surprised that I enjoyed the story. A bit gory in spots but it was about a demon so that’s to be expected.
