This did not really unfold the way the synopsis lead me to believe. The FMC, Amy, is turned into a vampire by Lady Grey. Lady Grey needs an heir and there have been issues in the past. Anything you might have previously read about vampires isn't in this one. Well, there is one scene - but it was viewed and forgotten. Compelling Story and Well Written The story is the transformation of Amy from a normal life in New York City to being the heir apparent to the House of Gray as a turned vampire. The character development is great. The world view is vivid. You can taste the Rhode Island salt in the air from the narrative. The story focuses on high society and a complicated set of rules by which the vampires coexist actively in the human world while remaining hidden. I truly enjoyed the story and the author.
