If animals could talk, what stories they could tell us about Christmas! Imagine the perspective of Maryβs cat, or the donkey that carried her to Bethlehem. What stories would the camel tell about the Magi, or the sheep about the night the angels appeared?Nine animals each share a part of the Christmas story from Maryβs house cat in Nazareth to a cow in the stable in Bethlehem. Truly enjoyableI liked reading the Christmas story from the perspective of the animals. How ordinary things become part of something extraordinary, how even the smallest gift is meaningful and welcome and how even the dirty and shunned are invited into the presence of the Holy Lamb of God. I wish this book had been available when my children were small. I can imagine reading a chapter to them each night leading up to Christmas rather than focusing on the arrival of Santa.
