For seventeen years, a killer has taken parents and then kidnapped the children.Something is wrong along the New England coast.Across Maine, families are found brutally murdered—each scene marked by taunting notes and unanswered questions. After every killing, a child vanishes. No bodies. No witnesses. No pattern anyone can prove.Until now. When the killings begin again in Portland, veteran homicide detective Laurie Daniels is pulled into a case that has haunted the region for nearly two decades. Rumors swirl of a hooded figure stalking the woods at night. An escaped mental patient from Cushing Island. A snake-handling church with a violent past.Every lead feels plausible. Every suspect feels wrong. As Daniels digs deeper, the case turns personal. Evidence surfaces that suggests the killer knows her—her habits, her weaknesses, and the mistakes she’s tried to bury. And then she realizes the truth. She hasn't been hunting the killer. He’s been guiding her all along. As the body count rises and the distance between hunter and hunted collapses, Daniels must confront an enemy who doesn’t just want to escape justice—he wants to be seen. And he wants her to watch.A dark, atmospheric mystery set along the New England coast, The Reaping blends serial-killer suspense, psychological horror, and slow-burn dread into a gripping standalone thriller that will keep you guessing until the final page. Some killers don’t run. They wait."I really enjoyed this book. The plot grew with an intense "who dun it" while surprising me with a twist I didn't anticipate. It's a great read in good vs. evil. You will find yourself questioning the validity of each character." - Reader Review

This story reminded me a lot of the Thomas Harris books. I loved the Detective and FBI characters. Randall definitely did his research and it clearly shows. He also does an amazing job of getting inside each of the character's heads and allowing the reader to feel super engaged with them. Evil the mysterious killer lurking in the shadows. Randall does a
