This book starts with an original premise, and that is the main character isn't a human. in fact, humans really kind of have a background role in this. It starts as a coming of age story with Meals, as the last of his species, trying to become a warden, which seems like a space sheriff. But it's more than that, twists and turns that will keep you engaged and on the edge of your seat.
