4.5 rounded up to 5 starsThis is a fascinating coming-of-age story of a young woman (ages 17-25) which also incorporates the harsh realities of what it meant to be Jewish in the early 1900s in Russia (specifically, the Ukraine) and in Argentina. In addition, there are some subtle elements of Pride and Prejudice in the story, as the heroine exhibits Elizabeth Bennet-type traits (being bright, stubborn, judgmental, and quick to engage in debate) while growing from a naïve girl to an independent wo
