I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book thoroughly and had a hard time putting it down. I rarely read fiction and do not regret making the time to read this story about kids who were coming of age in the eighties. Great read and worth the time.

***Received a copy of this book from Goodreads Giveaway*** ~ A HUGE THANKS to Vincent Lowry, author of American Vineyard for sending me a copy of this book!!! I really really really appreciate it ~ =D This is a story told by an adult of his past childhood life in the 80's. The story in itself was very simple revolving around kid's daily problems, fears, etc. Although the plot was very simple, yet the writing style made this a very compelling & an entertaining read. This is a superb coming-of-age story that shows rare astonishing penetration into the minds of 12- and 13-year olds. Both the characters and the story grabbed me from the first page and kept me reading to a shattering conclusion. The background environment, rural New Mexico, is also powerfully invoked. This is a deeply moving read that has stayed with me for some time.
