Two things seventeen-year-old Ashley Devoe will learn: Things aren't always what they seem, and curiosity can get you killed.Ashley’s dad has moved out, leaving her stuck with her overprotective mother. As if that wasn’t bad enough, her dad’s so-called friend seems interested in her mom, making Ashley’s life even more miserable.Ashley wishes she could turn to her dad for comfort, but his work keeps him occupied. She can’t shake the feeling though that it’s more than just his job that’s keeping him busy.Luckily, she has her quirky best friend, Brianne, to help distract her from her family drama. Things start looking up when Ashley meets Trent one night at their favorite hangout. But it isn’t long before she realizes that Trent, like her father, has something to hide.Ashley can't resist the urge to spy on them both—until she does… and quickly wishes she could take it back.

Probably more of a 3.75/5...I'm not really sure yet. This book was not exactly what I was anticipating. The book itself was a good read for the most part but there was something lacking that I couldn't quite put my finger on. The protagonist, Ashley, definitely reminded me of most high school students I know act, and her best friend Bri, was exactly how most HS best friends are portrayed in books; quirky, loud and all over the place. The writing style was very easy to follow and the story had a go

Chance of Rain by Laurel Veil is an enjoyable book for young readers. It is full of excitement, fun, suspense and mystery with its fair share of detective work. The characters are adorable, and some of them will truly endear with readers. The story idea flows along the line of one of the most painful and difficult things in life – a broken family. The pain is more acute and severe for a child who is torn between two loves. In Chance of Rain, you’ll easily get to notice the thought-process of Ashl

Is Everyone What They Seem?Ashley is a teenager with the usual teen problems. She wants her estranged parents to get back together. She has a best friend. Her mother is overprotective. The usual. Suddenly, she seems to be getting a lot of attention from a cute young man. Is her life looking up? This book seems as if it would be very appealing to teens.
