A Pioneer Girl Learns To Cook is full of history for a young girl or boy. There are recipes at the end for apple pie and biscuits the children can create (along with adult supervision). Some of the pictures don't really illustrate the facts in the book, however, which is one of the reasons for the four stars instead of five.I would recommend this book to children ages 5-10.I received this book free from Goodreads First Reads.

A couple of recipes and some wonderful pictures make this a great book. It is interesting reading and teaches all ages about life in a different time. The author does a good job bringing that time to life and showing how hard it was.
